AFL to interview Blind Freddy as part of Dees tanking investigation

The AFL Tanking investigation into Melbourne’s 2009 season has been widened today with news that AFL Integrity Officer, Brett Clothier, will interview Blind Freddy as part of the probe.

Blind Freddy was instrumental in the club selecting Cale Morton with pick 4 in the 2007 National draft.

The AFL launched the probe into the alleged tanking by the Demons after former club leader Brock McLean claimed that “even Blind Freddy would have been able to see the club was not doing everything it could to win games”. Blind Freddy was again implicated in the scandal last week after the Demons’ former club doctor quipped that “Blind Freddy could see the team wasn’t picked for optimal performance”.

Blind Freddy is understood to be concerned with the potential damage the scandal is doing to his reputation in the game. As a result, Blind Freddy, alongside his dog and close friend Joe Blow, have sought out the AFL to talk candidly on the subject.

Although it is not entirely clear what Blind Freddy’s role was within the club, The Daily Maggot understands that Blind Freddy played a key role in recruitment at the Demons during the 2007-2011 seasons.
